Niwaala started with a simple frustration: every backpacking meal on the shelf tasted like the packaging it came in. We wanted real recipes — the kind simmered low and slow — without carrying the weight of a full kitchen.
So we started freeze-drying the meals we actually cook at home. Each recipe is made in small batches, then freeze-dried at peak flavour to lock in taste and nutrition while stripping out the weight and the water. No preservatives, no fillers — just add boiling water.
Every meal is vegetarian, with a growing lineup of vegan options, because eating well on trail shouldn’t mean compromising on what you eat. We’re a small team based in Surrey, BC, packing meals for the people who’d rather spend their evening watching the sunset than scrubbing a pot.
